A review of the past year.
We entered January with three exhibitions in three different locations:
- 50 years 50 Portraits, Almada
- Portugal Livre 1974-2024, Restauradores, Lisboa
- Jamaika, by José Sarmento Matos, NARRATIVA
This was followed by NARRATIVA’s 23/24 Masterclass exhibition, once again achieving national and international distinctions.
CICLO 2024, NARRATIVA's annual event, was marked by Terra Vermelha, an impactful exhibition by Tommaso Protti and the presence of Blow Up Press publisher.
In April, we also opened two exhibitions that focused on the marks of the Colonial War and what remained to be done after the 25th of April:
- Despojos de Guerra, by Leonel de Castro.
- ROOF, by Mário Cruz.
From June to October, we once again established ourselves as a home for emerging names in photography.
- New Talents Exhibition FNAC 2024, Tudo é incómodo quando a terra treme, by Joana Dionísio.
- Exhibition Sıhhatler Olsun, by Asli Ozcelik.
We ended the year in the same way we started, with three simultaneous exhibitions:
- Nothing personal, by Nikita Teryoshin.
- RETROSPECTIVA – NARRATIVA Masterclass 2018-2024
- Pop-Up NARRATIVA
In addition, this year we developed 12 free workshops, 14 conversations, 10 book presentations and 8 out-of-home events.
It is important to highlight that during this program we created projects in partnership with Escola Básica Teixeira de Pascoais and Residência Santa Joana Princesa.
Added to this important dimension of social work is the investment we made in our library and the fact that we participated in the production of four books.
- Jamaika, José Sarmento Matos
- Uma azeitona bordada em azul, Rui Costa
- Despojos de Guerra Leonel de Castro
- ROOF, Mário Cruz
All these results were only possible due to the support of our patrons - Fujifilm Portugal and Moldura Minuto.
Finally, the Círculo NARRATIVA is made up of 48 people who contribute to our programming. If you're not already a part, consider supporting us.
We say goodbye with wishes for happy holidays and a good 2025. We return on January 11th with a new exhibition.
