Rules and regulations

1 - PURPOSE

This regulation establish the rules for participation in the "PRÉMIO NARRATIVA - FUJIFILM" photography award, an initiative promoted by NARRATIVA and Fujifilm. This award aims to promote photography, highlighting original projects by artists residing in Portugal.

2 - AWARDS

1 - Winner

  • €3,500 (Fujifilm Award),

  • Solo exhibition at NARRATIVA.

2 - Honorable Mentions

  • Project presentation at NARRATIVA.

3 - The jury selects only one winning participant.

4 - The jury may award up to two honorable mentions.

5 - The winning candidate guarantee their presence and required travel to the exhibition opening and a talk/guided tour.

6 - Honorable mention winners guarantee their presence and required travel to the public presentation of their projects, the date of which is yet to be determined.

7 - The winning project's exhibition may include more photographs than those used in the submission, as part of NARRATIVA's curation process.

8 - The award will be presented to the winning candidate on the opening day of the exhibition.

3 - SCHEDULE

1 - Application period: September 1st to September 30th, 2026.

2 - Announcement of results: November 2nd, 2026, on NARRATIVA and Fujifilm social media channels.

3 - Exhibition opening: January 2027 (date to be confirmed), at NARRATIVA.

4 - CONDITIONS

1 - Participants in the "PRÉMIO NARRATIVA - FUJIFILM" must be citizens with tax domicile in Portugal, with 18 years of age or older, emerging or established authors, and residing in Portugal.

2 - Projects must be original and cannot have won awards, been published, or been publicly exhibited.

3 - Projects developed in educational or academic contexts are eligible for the competition.

4 - Each participant may submit only one project.

5 - Submitted projects may have been created with any brand of photographic equipment.

6 - Submissions from current or former NARRATIVA members, as well as X-Photographers and FUJIFILM employees, are not permitted.

7 - Works developed in the NARRATIVA workshops and Masterclass are not eligible for submission.

8 - The author of the winning work agrees to submit the files in high resolution (TIFF format) within ten business days after the public announcement of the results.

9 - NARRATIVA is solely responsible for curating the exhibition of the winning project.

5 - APPLICATIONS

1 - Applications must be submitted using the form available on NARRATIVA's official website (https://anarrativa.com) by 11:59 pm on the last day of the application period.

2 - Required documents:

  • Author's full name,

  • Date of birth,

  • Individual taxpayer registry,

  • Copy of Identification Document (ID card or passport) or Address Proof,

  • Email address and contact number,

  • Biography (up to 1,000 characters),

  • Project title,

  • Project synopsis (up to 2,000 characters),

  • 15 to 20 images in jpeg format (3000px on the largest side, 72 dpi),

  • Maximum file size 2MB.

3 - Submitted files must be renamed according to the order in which the submission should be read, without revealing the author's name or project title:

  • Ex.: “001, 002, 003,...”

4 - Incomplete submissions or those that do not comply with the present regulation will be excluded.

6 - SELECTION

1 - The jury is composed of 3 members.

2 - Selection criteria:

  • Theme’s relevance,

  • Project’s impact,

  • Concept and narrative coherence,

  • Originality.

3 - The jury's decisions are final and irrevocable.

7 - COPYRIGHT AND USE

1 - Participants guarantee that they are the sole copyright holders of the submitted images or have formal authorization from the copyright holder.

2 - Participants are responsible for any legal consequences arising from the publication and display of the images entered in the competition.

3 - Images must be obtained through photographic means, allowing only basic adjustments (color, contrast, framing). The use of AI tools is not permitted.

4 - Participants retain copyright, authorizing NARRATIVA and Fujifilm to use the images for promotion and publicity of the award, in this and future editions, always ensuring due credit to the author.

5 - The award-winning images cannot be exhibited in national territory until May 1st, 2026 without NARRATIVA and Fujifilm consent.

6 - At the end of the exhibition, one of the works will be added to NARRATIVA's collection, and the remaining prints will be stored for one year for potential exhibitions at other NARRATIVA partner venues. After this period, the works will be destroyed.

7 - The winning author agrees to credit the "PRÉMIO NARRATIVA - FUJIFILM" distinction in future exhibitions, publications, and communications about the winning project for a period of two years.

8 - Within the scope of this competition, and whenever the participant provides their personal data, they will be automatically processed by NARRATIVA under the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 2016), and used exclusively for all procedures inherent to participating in the contest, receiving prizes, and fulfilling legal obligations.

8 - FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

1 - Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of this regulation.

2 - Any remaining issues will be resolved by NARRATIVA.
